What is it like to star in an amazing West End show like Les Mis?

It's a dream come true! Every day on the commute to the Queens I have to pinch myself that I'm going to "work"

What is your favourite scene in Les Mis?

I have two favourite scenes. "The End Of The Day" always gives me goosebumps. I find the orchestrations beautiful! It always reminds me of when I was little, I built a pillow fort and watched the 10th anniversary video on repeat and that section always reminds me how lucky I am to now be part of it! The other section is the "Epilogue", it gets me every time.

Who is your acting idol?

I could watch Meryl Streep for hours. I love watching her in autobiographical roles, she completely transforms into another person and it fascinates me.

What’s your next dream role?

I would love to play Ophelia in Hamlet,  the challenge of her ever changing personality really appeals to me. Musical wise, I would LOVE to play Glinda in Wicked. I would also love to sing the role of "Christine", that's been a dream ever since I was little, get me in that boat!!

What goes on behind the scenes during a performance?

We do have a lot of fun backstage here at Les Mis. The cast are very supportive so whatever is happening there is always somebody to speak to.

Who’s your backstage buddy?

I get on with everybody in the cast. I'm very close to Katy Secombe who plays Madame Thenardier.  She was in the cast in 2011 when I did the show before and it's lovely to be working with her again. I also adore Jeremy Secomb who plays Javert. We did Sweeney Todd together before starting this job so have spent SO much time together, he makes me laugh so much.

You’ve been in both the film and stage versions of Les Mis, how do those acting environments compare?

I recorded Vocals for the Movie at Pinewood Studios. It was a fantastic experience, but if you made a mistake you could have another take, not quite the same on stage!!!!!!

If you could be on stage with anyone in the world who would it be?

I'd probably say my dad. He's not an actor, (he's an ex policeman!) but I know he would absolutely love it ! I can Imagine him in Master of the House!

Who is your favourite musical theatre composer?

I'd have to say Sondheim. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I played Johanna in Sweeney Todd. It was absolutely incredible to perform in front of him in such a intimate space, and he has a wicked  sense of humour!

Tell us something people don’t know about you...

I have a stone in my bottom lip, caused by a roller blading incident when I was in my teens!
