Les Misérables: A Q&A with Peter Lockyer & Rachelle Ann Go

In 1983, roughly 6 months after producer Cameron Mackintosh opened Cats on Broadway, he received a copy of the French concept album for Les Mis from director Peter Farago who asked him to produce an English version of the show.

The show opened at the Barbican Theatre on 8th October 1985 and transferred to the Palace Theatre two months later where it ran for 19 years before transferring to the Queens in 2004. Les Miserables has now been seen by more than 70 million people in 44 countries and in 22 languages around the globe.

This legendary production is celebrating its 30th birthday this week and as part of the celebrations we want to bring you a little closer to some of the stars of the show - Peter Lockyer, who plays Jean Valjean, and Rachelle Ann Go who plays Fantine.

Peter has performed in many of the great classics in the US including Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, La Bohème, The Phantom of the Opera and more. Rachelle is a well-known pop star in the Philippines having recorded seven albums with certified gold and double platinum records. She also recorded the soundtrack to Disney's live action movie Cinderella.
