W!ZARD Radio’s 2017 Recommendations…

These are the musicians and bands we think you should be watching live over the upcoming months because we have a feeling that they’re going to be huge!

The Amazons

Having signed to the prestigious indie label Fiction Records early in 2016, Reading four-piece The Amazons made a splash on the music scene with Stay With Me and have been on a fast-track to huge success ever since. With a combination of headline shows and support slots on the UK tours of the likes of The Strypes and Jimmy Eat World, The Amazons have already garnered a loyal following and high levels of critical and word-of-mouth praise. This is another act you’re going to have to be quick off the mark for if you want to catch them live this year! Tickets for The Amazons are on sale now

Dan Owen

Shewsbury-born Dan Owen isn’t necessarily new on the music radar, having played Glastonbury amongst other festivals worldwide in 2013, and picking up support of spectators and celebrities over the last few years, including legendary Fleetwood Mac drummer, Mick Fleetwood. However, judging by how well his 2016 went, with the release of a new EP Open Hands and Enemies and support shows on Birdy’s UK tour, 2017 is looking to be a big one. Also hitting the live music circuit this February is pithy, political post-punk group Cabbage who are quickly building momentum as one of the most exciting, energetic and explosive acts of 2017. Whilst there’s a danger of the band being viewed as pretentious, with tracks about the likes of North Korea and Donald Trump, just the ‘anti-band name’ Cabbage itself highlights their tongue-in-cheek sense of humour and the fact they don’t take themselves too seriously. The band have already gained a reputation for their rowdy and fiery live shows, therefore their 2017 UK tour is certainly a spectacle not to be missed. Tickets for Cabbage are on sale now

It’s strange how sometimes the most creative artists can have the least imaginative names; at least this is certainly the case for 18-year-old, South London Rapper Dave whose lyrical originality shows wisdom beyond his years. He’s worked with fellow up-and-coming talent AJ Tracey on the track Thiago Silver and released his debut EP Six Paths last year, and in March 2017 you can catch him live in Manchester, Birmingham and London. Tickets for Dave are on sale now

Tom Grennan

In September 2016, Chase & Status released yet another electrifying dance track, this time featuring the incredible voice of Tom Grennan throwing him into the limelight and gaining him major mainstream attention. Shortly after this single release, Bedford-born, London-raised Grennan premiered his debut EP Something in the Water in October, the title track of which has been featured on Clash, The Independent, and BBC Introducing.
