Festival City Guide: The best things to do at Super Bock Super Rock in Portugal

...Super Bock Super Rock is everything you could want from a festival - Francesca, attendee 2017

Combine a bustling, cultural and eccentric city, sunshine, and one rocking music festival and you've got one of Portugal's biggest and best music festivals, Super Bock Super Rock.

Located in the wonderfully charming, lively, and host of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Lisbon, Super Bock Super Rock is more than just a festival but also a summer city break that sings to the tune of some of the world's best artists and acts. From hip-hop star Travis Scott, Mercury prize-winning The XX, and indie-rockers The Vaccines - plus the chance to discover brilliant Portugese acts, you'll never be short of somebody to dance to at Super Bock Super Rock.

Whilst your evenings will be spent rocking out to this killer line-up, your days are free to explore beautiful Lisbon and fully embrace being a tourist around this trendy city. You needn't worry about transport as it is only a short metro or bus ride from the festival and into central Lisbon, whilst a journey to the nearest beach is only a ten minute journey from the city centre. Those that do wonder to the centre can expect to find an absolute plethora of historical, gastronomical and cultural wonders to feast their eyes on and get stuck into.

History buffs visiting can expect to find the magnificent Castelo de S. Jorge that looks over Lisbon and explore it's scenic grounds and medieval architecture or gawp at the stunning Rua Augusta Arch which stands proudly on the Praça do Comércio. For foodies it is a must to try the deliciously sweet local delicacy of pastéis de nata (Portugese custard tarts) fresh from the oven - a perfect snack whilst you wander the city.

If it's art you're looking for Lisbon has the perfect balance between modern and classical, dotted with statues, street art and museums. If it's traditional you prefer, take a trip to Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and discover a showcase of art dating back to the Middle Ages. But if modern's more your thing then upon arriving you'll already notice that Lisbon sits on a backdrop of innovative, wacky, poetic and often beautiful street art. Lots of it is super close to Super Bock Super Rock, too, so you'll never be too far away from that perfect Instagram shot.

What's more, the festival sits near the serene River Tragus and offers a nearby lounge area with bars for you to unwind, watch the sunset, and take in the atmosphere without having to leave the venue and still able to watch the acts from afar.

With something for everyone, Super Bock Super Rock truly is the ultimate festival-meets-city-break destination for 2018. If you're still not convinced, take a read of Francesca's review below who visited last year:

"The main stage is inside the arena so the sound quality is unbeatable. I got to see two of my favourite bands, Deftones and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, within a festival atmosphere but at a concert level of quality – it made the experience so much better...The main appeal to me was that the festival wasn’t a “sell out” – the organisers were on site, they genuinely wanted you to enjoy yourself and have a good time and are so eager to get more people over from the UK to experience it for themselves.

It’s definitely a great choice for someone wanting a European mini break and festival all in one package because there’s the flexibility to just go off and explore the city – you’re not stuck in a muddy field with a nightmare journey back into the centre. Basically, I loved it!"

Enjoy this incredible line-up at a one-of-a-kind festival and all the sights of Lisbon at one, only at Super Bock Super Rock - tickets on sale now.

To help spread the cost of the festival, See Tickets is offering a 3-day ticket deposit scheme of only £62.63 (booking fee inc.), with the remaining balance of £54 to be paid by Friday 27th April 2018.
