Malvern Autumn Show Returns For A Hearty Celebration



Malvern Autumn Show, in association with Westons Cider Mill, is back for a bountiful weekend bursting with harvest fun, horticultural know-how and family entertainment on September 29-30.

More than 65,000 visitors are expected to visit the family-friendly festival at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, which celebrates the very best of the great British countryside and the autumn harvest.

The brand-new Autumn Potager Theatre, hosted by award-winning food writer and grower, Mark Diacono, will welcome a host of expert celebrity guests from the food and horticultural worlds to give daily demonstrations on growing and cooking. BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Carol Klein will share her wealth of knowledge and experience along with co-host Joe Swift, whilst writer, broadcaster, actor and former Conservative MP Gyles Brandreth, known for his appearances on BBC The One Show, Have I Got News For You, and Radio 4’s comedy panel show Just a Minute, will delight guests with tales of his life and work.

Sizzling cookery demonstrations will be headed up by chef and presenter from BBC’s What to Eat Now, Valentine Warner, whilst gardening writer and Guardian columnist Alys Fowler will demonstrate how to make a variety of seasonal chutneys and pickles. Celebrity florist and leading floral art designer Jonathan Moseley rounds up the line-up with a host of interactive workshops and demonstrations that champion British flowers.

Show Highlights:

  • The Autumn Potager Theatre, hosted by Mark Diacono, will showcase a wealth of talent, experience and expertise with talks from celebrity guests including Carol Klein, Joe Swift, Alys Fowler, Gyles Brandreth, Jonathan Moseley and Valentine Warner.

The hugely popular CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship returns to pit vegetable growers from across the nation against each other in dozens of different classes. This year sees four brand new categories: heaviest three sticks of rhubarb, heaviest kohlrabi, heaviest aubergine and longest radish. Last year, four World records and one European record were broken, including the World’s Heaviest Chilli. Will any more records be smashed this year?

A host of world-class nurseries will feature in the last major RHS Flower Show of the year where growers will compete for the coveted ‘Best in Show’ title as they strive for an RHS gold medal. There will be a large variety of plant shops as well as a brand new bulb market, offering plenty of advice on what to buy and plant now and in the coming months.

 Get ready for the change of the season with Christine Robinson, the former housekeeper of Chatsworth House, who will share her top tips for Christmas feasting and decorating, whilst also divulging secrets from the world of state banquets and opulent events at the historic stately home that she carefully looked after during her 38 years of service.

Children will be kept thoroughly entertained by activities such as craft workshops, wood turning, spoon carving on the Family Green.

All creatures great and small are on show in the World of Animals, supported by Bredon School. Both furred and feathered friends are featured including Alpacas, the Ryeland Sheep Show, champion chickens and Pig Agility.  New for this year is a dog show with all types of breeds and advice on how to care for man’s best friend.

  • Relive the good old days with a celebration of all things retro at the Vintage Village, including a vintage fairground, dancing vehicles, garden machinery, clothing and a vintage tearoom.

The National Young Farmers’ Club Championships will take place in Wye Hall, welcoming over a hundred contestants to show off their skills in the world of cookery and floral art.

There will be hundreds of trade stands offering unique shopping opportunities for the discerning shopper, a perfect chance to start ticking off gifts on the Christmas list.
