Victorious Festival: A Q&A with Festival Director Andy Marsh

Each year, thousands of people flock to the stunning seaside town of Southsea for an event that brings together some of music's biggest household names, filling the south coast of England with a weekend of sun, fun and excellent entertainment.

Victorious

It's officially less than one month until Victorious Festival 2015 hits the (hopefully) sunny Southsea Seafront, enlivening Portsmouth once again with music and entertainment within its beautiful seaside setting.

This year, Victorious is bringing some huge names to Southsea. Headliners The Flaming Lips and Ray Davies, Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals, The Fratellis, The Darkness, Tinie Tempah and Basement Jaxx will all be appearing. Its musical variety is certainly a selling point for Victorious, as is its family orientated atmosphere and unrivaled choice of location.

Flaming Lips

On top of that, Victorious also benefits from being one of the cheapest UK festivals around. Early bird tickets started this year at £18 for standard day tickets if bought before the 3rd April. Second price banding then starts at £25. Currently, standard day tickets are being sold at just £30 - what a bargain!

If, somehow, that's not enough to persuade you to take the trip, we had a little chat with the Victorious Festival Director, Andy Marsh about what makes Victorious the only choice of festival for southerners this year.

What is it about Southsea that makes it an ideal festival setting?

Stunning seaside scenery makes a fantastic backdrop while bands play. The large common and surrounding area create a beautiful site all two minutes from a city full of local business and people.

Victorious Festival is very family orientated. Do you think this sets it apart from other similar festivals?

It's great value for money, with cheap tickets and plenty of free activities for the kids along with a great line up.

You get involved with a lot of local businesses around Portsmouth within the festival. Is it important that Victorious celebrates great home grown talent?

We have over 100 local acts that get the chance to perform to a large crowd. Local traders all take part and the local community (i.e. hotels, bars and restaurants) all do well from the weekend.

What do you look for in a band when choosing who to put on the bill?

Bands that will fit the family atmosphere, good up and coming talent, and some great sing along stuff!

In your eyes, what is the Victorious Festival ethos?

A great value for money music festival.

So what exactly are you waiting for? Victorious Festival takes place 29-30th August and tickets are on sale now . Remember, there's only one month to go!
