Comedian, screenwriter and actor Jennifer Saunders will return to the West End when she guest stars as the Duchess of Berwick in Lady Windermere's Fan.
Best known for writing and starring in the sketch show French and Saunders and the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, the casting marks Saunders' return to the West End stage for the first time in over 20 years.
Samantha Spiro and Kevin Bishop will also appear in the forthcoming production under award-winning director Kathy Burke part of a year-long season of Oscar Wilde plays at the Vaudeville Theatre, from Dominic Dromgoole's new company, Classic Spring.
Spiro, who won an Olivier Award for her performance in Merrily We Roll Along at the Donmar Warehouse, will play Mrs Erlynne, while Kevin Bishop will play Lord Darlington, having recently starred in one-man show Fully Committed at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Once In A Lifetime at the Young Vic.
Lady Windermere’s Fan begins previews on January 12, and runs until April 7, with tickets on sale here.
Other productions in the season include A Woman of No Importance, which opens next month, The Importance of Being Earnest and An Ideal Husband.
