Tina, a musical based on the life of Tina Turner will have its world premiere at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End next spring, it's been confirmed.
It was announced previously that Mamma Mia! director Phyllida Lloyd was reuniting with the Abba musical's choreographer Anthony van Laast, and its designer Mark Thompson for a new show about the 'Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll'.
The new stage musical reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.
One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Turner has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history.
The production will feature her much loved songs, and is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall.
Announcing the show's West End run, Turner told fans:
"Its really important to me to have the chance to share my full story. I am so happy that London, a city that means so much to me, is going to be where we stage the World Premiere of my new musical! Love, Tina x"
Tina will run at the Aldwych Theatre from 17th April to 16th June, with previews from 21st March.
Tickets will go on sale to the public from next Friday, 22nd September.
