A Dark New Immersive Peter Pan Based Show is Coming to London

A new immersive show created for adults and based on JM Barrie’s Peter Pan is coming to London as the headline production of the next VAULT Festival, which runs from January to March 2018.

Neverland, from the creators of the immersive The Great Gatsby, is hailed as a “re-imagining” of the famous tale, combining elements of the book, plus elements of its creation as covered in 2004 Oscar-winning film Finding Neverland, which starred Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet.

Audiences will be invited to step into the chink of time between dusk and dark, awake and asleep, and join a journey to rediscover your lost child in the wonderful world of Neverland. Along the way, you'll dive into a dark and dangerous world of mermaids, rum and glittering pirates. Expect food fights, absinthe bars and soaring live music from a band of lost boys.

The Vaults is a series of spaces in the tunnels under Waterloo station, meaning audiences can explore the show as they wish, walking from set to set and meeting the show’s eight characters. There's not one set narrative, meaning each performance will provide a slightly different story and experience.

Alexander Wright, the writer and director of the show, added:

“The first time Peter Pan was told was in 1904, but we wanted to do something different. I think the enduring themes of childhood and not growing up have meant it has kept its appeal, so I am keen to allow the adult audience to get in touch with their childhood - something we don’t get to do much as an adult.”

VAULT Festival champions new writing, immersive experiences, comedy, film and late night entertainment. Throughout the eight-week schedule, there will be live comedy, circus comedy and musicals plus a number of workshops and roundtables discussing topics like diversity in the arts.

Neverland runs at The Vaults from 24th January 2018, with tickets now on sale in a SEE exclusive, HERE.
