Artist of the Month: Japanese Breakfast (Feb 2018)

A collaboration in which experimental pop, melancholic lyrics with other-worldly themes and shoe-gaze all collide, Japanese Breakfast is the critically acclaimed artist you have to see live this spring.

A solo project by Michelle Zauner, Japanese Breakfast first broke through with debut album 'Psychopomp' in 2016. Dealing with themes of mourning, intimacy and loss, the record impressed critics off the bat with publications such as Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound and PopMatters all highly praising Zauner's uniquely sophisticated sound. Since then, Japanese Breakfast has only continued to develop her stand-out musical style; with her second album 'Soft Sounds from Another Planet' achieving even higher acclaim.

This latest album, released in 2017, demonstrated Japanese Breakfast really coming into her own and making her mark on the dream-pop world; with critics hailing it for it's 'slicker' sound. Not only this, the album achieved number 17 on Stereogum's 'The 50 Best Albums of 2017' list, and continued support from Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound and more.

With this we're incredibly excited to announce Japanese Breakfast's UK tour this May! Scaling the country in some of the best venues, we're sure she'll put on an unmissable show.
