Artist Spotlight: La Luz

The LA based, retro-esque indie pop band La Luz have already begun their European tour with most of the U.K dates selling out - but there is still a chance to catch the band that have been referred to as 'Calfornia-grown avocado, buttery and smooth'. From the Mono in Glasgow, the Leeds Brudenell Social Club and the Dome in London on Thursday 27th September... what a way to celebrate the coming Autumn gig season!

The Seattle born quartet, that edge on the side of surf-rock, released their album 'Floating Features' on May 11th with the record label 'Hardly Art'; a tainted darkness and percussion that could cut through ice. This was definitely a must buy album of the summer - so if you've not already bought, run out and get it right now. You will not be disappointed - shoe gaze melodies and pure sass helps to embody their geeky-cool persona that runs throughout their stage presence and music videos. Personal favourites include the opening track 'Floating Features' that gives a very Quentin Tarantino flavour to the album - then leading through to 'Cicada', that has sulky yet harmonic goose bump raising feel.

In the middle of the day I am in my room alone,
I don't have much to say but I've got places I could go,
Free floating deaf and dumb and dull,
Through a world I am not of.
