Unmissable Summer Events at The Piece Hall, Halifax

It underwent a stunning renovation in 2017 and saw a monumental return to the live calendar when it hosted Father John Misty in May 2018. As a result, The Piece Hall in Halifax has quickly become a firm favourite for outdoor concerts in the North.

The Piece Hall offers a beautiful backdrop for an array of live concerts. The 18th century, Grade I Listed building and its outdoor courtyard provides a serene setting to any musical performance. This year, there's an incredible line-up on offer.

So, if you've never been to The Piece Hall before, or you're looking to enjoy a day of live music you'll never forget, then we're here to tell you why Halifax is the place to be this month.

The Piece Hall

This stunning Georgian building is the sole survivor of the great eighteenth century northern cloth halls. The Piece Hall was certainly the most ambitious and prestigious of its type. As a result, it now stands in splendid isolation.

Re-opened on 1st August 2017, The Piece Hall is now a contemporary leisure, retail, cultural and heritage destination. The open air piazza is enclosed by a retail and leisure mix of independent new start-ups, expanding local businesses and returning tenants.

So, don't miss your opportunity to experience The Piece Hall in all its grandeur, with some live music to boot.

The Music

Coming later this month is four days of live music, between 27th and 30th June, when Halifax hosts a range of internationally renowned artists from the UK and further afield.

The opening show on Thursday 27th June is the charismatic, laid-back, Canadian songwriter Mac Demarco. He sees support from crooner Yellow Days, hotly-tipped Amyl and The Sniffers, plus emerging band Working Men’s Club who hail from nearby Todmorden.

Friday sees the return of hometown heroes Embrace. They formed just up the road from The Piece Hall, and are celebrating 21 years of their debut record ‘The Good Will Out’. This sold out show features a stellar support bill. See Sheffield’s Reverend and the Makers, Brit-pop legends Sleeper and Leeds indie-pop band Hope & Social.

Bringing in the weekend is The Levellers on Saturday, with their award-winning festival ‘Beautiful Days’. Enjoy ‘A Beautiful Day Out’ in Halifax for the very first time. Featuring lovingly curated bill of established artists Terrorvision, Therapy?, Ferocious Dog and Leeds’ Eureka Machines. With over 60 years of performance pedigree between them this promises to be an unmissable event!
