Buying Tickets Safely with the STAR Safe Ticket Buying Campaign

Here at See, we firmly believe that buying tickets to see your favourite bands, artists and events should be safe, secure and the beginning of an amazing experience.

We're a member of the organisation STAR (Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers), and today they've released their How-To Guide on protecting yourself when buying tickets, as part of their national campaign for Safe Ticket Buying.

What's their sole aim? To raise awareness on the main issues in the ticketing industry, which includes price inflation, law-breaking practices and counterfeit tickets.

We've summarised the main points to note in the guide for you below - otherwise, sit yourself down with a cuppa and read the guide in full here. Stay safe, and enjoy your live experience!

Get Familiar with the STAR Logo

Most reputable ticket agencies are members of the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR). Buying from a STAR member ensures you're dealing with a company that has signed up to a strict Code of Practice and that you've got somewhere to turn if anything goes wrong. See Tickets is proud to be a STAR member!

Understand the Difference Between a Primary Seller and a Re-Seller

Events often have more than one company selling tickets on their behalf. One might be directly through the venue - another might be a ticket agency, such as ourselves. Each seller is allocated a number of tickets to sell. Before buying for an event, research which reputable agents are selling for that event in order to purchase safely. If tickets are unavailable on one website, that's not to say they're completely sold out. So, make sure you shop around if you're unsuccessful.

Search engines, like Google, aren't always the best way to find an authorised ticket seller. Re-sellers are able to buy their way to the top of search listings with ads. Don't forget to look out for the STAR logo to be certain of where you're buying from.

Be Safe with Re-Selling

Re-selling doesn't always mean getting ripped off! If you're in the position where you need to sell on your ticket, or you are looking for a ticket to a sold out event, many agencies have their own re-selling platforms where you can safely, fairly and legally exchange tickets. We have our own - Fan-to-Fan!
