Earlier this month, we tried out two different screenings at Backyard Cinema LA Nights - currently residing at the Roundhouse in London. The first screening we attended was 'The Greatest Showman Sing-A-Long', and the second was 'A Star Is Born'. There are plenty of other films Backyard are offering up this summer though. From 'Dumbo' to 'Back To The Future', 'Pitch Perfect' or 'La La Land', there's a film screening for everyone.
As you stroll down the orange and pink themed walk complete with hanging lights and palm trees, you begin to feel that holiday mood take over. Not long after, you find your feet sinking into sand, which acts as a perfect remedy for your tired feet after walking around Camden. As you sip on your summer cocktail, eat your ice cream cone and relax into your very comfortable bean bag chair, it's hard not to feel like you've just walked onto the beach.
The sing-a-long aspect of this immersive film experience is loud and fun as you barely watch the film. Instead, you're too busy dancing around in the sand while singing 'This Is Me' at the top of your lungs (or whatever your musical song of choice is). However, if you'd rather watch the film without everyone around you singing along and dancing in front of the screen, there are plenty of screenings - including musical films - that don't include the sing-a-long aspect.
A couple of hours relaxing on a make-shift beach, watching (or singing along to) your favourite film while sipping on cocktails. This truly is one of the best experiences London has to offer.
