This the 3rd year of Christmas at the Botanics, what new surprises are in store for us?

This year we have a fleet of origami boats on the pond; a magical, dancing laser garden, over 600 balls of multi-coloured light glowing on the lawn; and a large heart which lights up when two people hold hands. We also see the return of some of last year's highlights - the magnificent Cathedral of Light; dancing trees on the Palm House and our Christmas story projected onto Inverleith House.

With the Botanics being a mile away from the City Centre and the Edinburgh Christmas Market, what makes this event stand out?

Visitors can really make a night of it at Christmas at the Botanics. Our restaurant serves delicious Christmas meals which you can book either before or after you walk around the trail, or you can pick up a hot drink, mulled wine or a light bite whilst on route. There is also a fire pit where you can toast marshmallows whilst enjoying the crackle and warmth from the spectacular fire garden!

For families there is our Gifts from the Garden trail where you can have fun learning about plants associated with Christmas and for younger children we have the ‘real' Santa Claus and his merry elves - so lots to do!

Your Tunnel of Light is covered with 100,00 pea-lights and looks beautiful, how long does this take to set up and get just right?

It takes several days and a team of six to create our Tunnel of Light in the garden and test all the lights, but definitely worth it for the end result.

We love a classic Christmas song, what can we expect to hear in the Festive Finale?

Our finale will be more than just song, it’s a newly commissioned video projection onto Inverleith House - not to be missed!

Are we able to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas and his elves this year?

Yes, definitely. Santa and his elves will be back in the Garden, singing Christmas songs and spreading festive cheer. Make sure you give them a wave!

Christmas at the Botanics, Edinburgh runs from Friday 22 November - Sunday 29th December, book your tickets today to secure the best time slot!
