David Bowie, the English rock star's first hit was the well known classic 'Space Oddity' in 1969. Known for his extravagant musical transformations, Bowie introduced his sci-fi character Ziggy Stardust in 1972. Later on in 1975 he co-wrote 'Fame' with Carlos Alomar and John Lennon which then became his first American no.1 single. Alongside his musical talents, Bowie was also an accomplished actor and starred in The Man Who Fell to Earth in 1976. He was later added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Sadly, shortly after releasing his final album in 2016 Bowie fell ill and passed away on January 10th.
Bowie was extremely passionate and showed a major interest in music from an early age and began playing the saxophone in his early teens. His main influence in his younger years was his half-brother Terry who exposed him to the wonderful world of rock music.
