One of pop's brightest rising stars, Lauv has made a big impact on the music scene within the past few years. Having huge hits with BTS, Anne-Marie, Julia Michaels and indie-pop group Lany, the young singer-songwriter and producer quickly established himself in the indie-pop world. He was also featured as our Artist Of The Month for February this year, check it out here.
In the latest of our Deep Cuts series, we're taking a look at some of Lauv's lesser-known, but equally incredible tracks. How many do you know?
There's No Way (feat. Julia Michaels)
A song full of emotions, Lauv and Michaels sing about enjoying someone's company and feeling an intimate connection which is impossible to ignore. The song explains how both artists have had some very complicated relationships in the past. The video shows them making eye contact as the flames spark, but as the night ends they part ways.
Superhero
Superhero is another emotive song, this time about a unique love that has someone has lost, and the process they are having to go through in order to come out the other side. The stripped-down track begins with soft vocals and complementing acoustic chords which then is later mixed into Lauv's well known electronic-influenced style music. Lauv shows how he can jump from genre to genre of music without forfeiting the general quality of the track.
Comfortable
Comfortable is a song about a relationship where the other person isn’t content and is just staying in the relationship as they're comfortable. The track has a catchy beat and combines this with infectious synths while providing emotional, heartfelt lyrics in the process.
The Story Never Ends
Another beautiful stripped-down track from Lauv. With piano accompanying soft vocal tones, the lyrics discuss a toxic relationship where the blame is believed to being pointed in the wrong direction. "That's who you are, crash the car and blame the road".
