What Is Americana? An Introduction from Black Deer Festival

Black Deer Festival offers an authentic roots experience for music lovers everywhere. It's a great festival for those who want to share intimate spaces with singers, songwriters, storytellers, country pioneers and music fans who gather to participate in this growing community set in the beautiful Kent countryside.

In lieu of the festival taking place this year, Black Deer have put together a short film to let the UK Americana community tell you all about the growing influence of this all-inclusive way of life. Watch the film and hear Americana’s grassroots whisper and swim away from the mainstream in the independent waters of folk, country, bluegrass, roots, rock ‘n’ roll, gospel and blues.

The brand new, specially-commissioned short film is being used to launch an online space called ‘The Pick’ – an area of Black Deer’s website for music and culture junkies to delve into a wide range of original and exclusive content.

The independent festival - holding its own alongside Glastonbury, All Points East, BST Hyde Park Latitude and Isle of Wight for ‘Festival of the Year’ at the Music Week Awards 2020 - will dig under the roots of Americana and focus on the things you love (and are going to love) about Americana: articles, fun-filled lists, music videos and all the best content from popular and emerging artists. In fact, they're even offering fans the opportunity to share their ideas for The Pick and get involved.

So, whether you've always wanted to learn more about the world of Americana and country music, or you're a life-long fan looking for some great content to read, look no further than Black Deer Festival's The Pick. Check out their first article, 'What Is Americana?'.
