In this month's 'On Rotations With See Tickets' we're sharing some of the tracks that we are OBSESSED with right now - both new and old.
From hip-hop sensation Little Simz blowing everyone away with latest album, 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert', to indie-pop icon Lorde returning from her 4 year break from recording and touring, there has been a constant stream of incredible new releases and eyebrow raising surprises over the past few months.
Here we take a closer look at a handful of those releases.
Little Simz - I Love You, I Hate You
Little Simz' latest LP, 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert' is already being tipped as one of the stand out albums of 2021 by critics and casual listeners alike. With a flawless track list it was near impossible to choose just one song from SIMBI, but after much deliberation it is 'I Love You, I Hate You' that cements its place in our playlist this month.
Lorde - California
After four years away from releasing records, Lorde's glorious resurrection finally occurred with 'Solar Power' last month. Combining indie, folk and psychedelic tones; the New Zealand native had teased singles since June, but the wait for the full album was proved to be worth-it with 'California.' Like Little Simz, we could have chose any track from 'Solar Power', but 'California' pips it.
bb sway - Bet You Know
Far Out Magazine write "Sway creates music that’s airy and hazy that never crosses over to feel nebulous or inessential. It’s purposeful pop, filled with top notch instrumental and arranging abilities that show off a keen ear for pop hooks and experimental flourishes. In short: it’s good stuff" and that quite frankly sums up this phenomenal single from Hong-Kong born bb sway.
The Front Bottoms - Lover Boy
Following their stand-alone single, 'Voodoo Magic' earlier this year, New Jersey folk-punk icons The Front Bottoms are back with 'Lover Boy.' What makes this release all the more sweeter is the announcement that they will be reissuing their debut self-titled album as part of the tenth anniversary celebration later in 2021! We're praying to the pop-punk gods that this means a tour where they play the record in full!
