There are so many great event and gig venues across the UK, so we're starting a new series here at See Tickets and shining a spotlight on different venues and what's happening there so you can grab tickets to see some of your favourite artists or give you the opportunity to discover someone new.
This month we're taking a look at what's on in Chalk in the bustling, eclectic, seaside city of Brighton in the South of the UK. Located opposite Brighton Pier, the venue holds regular club nights as well as gigs. From up and coming to local to well known artists and bands, you can find an array of musical talent playing there. The Lathums
When: Tuesday 27th September
Off the back of a stellar summer season of performances Wigan four-piece, The Lathums are set to embark on a September 2022 tour with a date at Brighton's Chalk next week. Having supported the likes of Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott at their stadium shows earlier this year and endorsed by The Killers, they are a very exciting band and this will be a show not to miss!
Overmono
When: Thursday 29th September
Under their respective artist names Truss and Tessela, the pair have forged formidable individual reputations as producers but have come together as Overmono to create defining tracks which have encapsulated so much of what is exciting and vital in UK underground, electronic music. The duo are headed to Chalk later this month, so get your tickets now.
The Snuts
When: Tuesday 4th October
Following an epic debut performance at Glastonbury earlier this year, one of the most exciting acts in the UK right now, The Snuts confirmed a huge UK tour earlier this year and with it a date at Brighton's Chalk. Their latest album continues to show the band’s evolution both sonically and lyrically and you won't want to miss seeing them perform songs from the album, live, next month.
Surf Curse
When: Friday 7th October
American surf rock band Surf Curse are set to make a trip across the pond this September & October. With three full length albums and one extended play, they have quickly risen to become a a staple part of the punk scene. Be sure to get your tickets to catch them at Chalk next month.
Toro Y Moi
When: Tuesday 11th October
American singer, songwriter and record producer, Toro Y Moi is known for his exploration of different styles of music from the chillwave to alternative. Following the release of his latest album, 'Mahal' to great acclaim earlier this year in April, Toro is heading to Chalk on Tuesday 11th October, so grab your tickets.
PUP
When: Wednesday 19th October
A fan of punk rock? Well PUP might be right up your street. Formed over 10 years ago, with their debut album released in 2013, PUP have enjoyed major critical success in their career. Having been nominated and won major Canadian contests, touted on Rolling Stone's 2014 "breakout out rock" bands list and more, they're heading to Brighton next month so don't miss it.
Sea Power
When: Sunday 30th October
Brighton's own Sea Power are firm favourites amongst fans and music peers alike. From David Bowie and Lou Reed to many others, Sea Power’s music has won them some remarkable admirers. The band’s catalogue includes seven studio albums, with the most recent being the UK Album Chart No. Four record, 'Everything Was Forever'. Each LP they've released has received raving reviews across the width and breadth of the music press from NME, Rolling Stone and others. Make sure to get tickets to catch them at a hometown gig next month.
Julia Jacklin
When: Thursday 10th November
To celebrate the release of her latest album, 'Pre Pleasure', Julia Jacklin is heading out on a UK tour, which sees her perform at Brighton's Chalk in November this year. Her fusion of indie pop, indie folk and alternative country with her emotional lyricism has proven popular with fans and critics alike, but on her new album we can hear far more euphoria than in previous records. Nina Nesbitt
When: Monday 14th November
Nina Nesbitt took her rising star status to the next level with the release of her highly anticipated latest album ‘Älskar’ earlier this month. Made in the show of the introspection, loss and fear of lockdown, ‘Älskar’ celebrates life in all of its complexities as well as love in every form imaginable. You can hear tracks from Nina's catalogue live at Chalk later this year.
Nation of Language
When: Monday 21st November
Brooklyn-based synth auteurs Nation of Language first arrived in 2020 as one of the most heralded new acts of recent memory, having only released a handful of singles but already earning high-praise from the likes of NME, FADER, Stereogum, Pitchfork and others. Since then, with two full length albums released, their second 'A Way Forward' has been touted as "a true modern-day classic" by NME. The band are due to embark on a headline UK tour in November which begins which a date at Chalk on the 21st. Get your tickets now.
Working Men's Club
When: Tuesday 22nd November
With release of their latest album, 'Fear Fear' earlier this year in July, Yorkshire four-piece, Working Men's Club, also confirmed a run of UK shows which sees them play in Brighton. Their debut release 'Working Men's Club' dropped in 2020 received critical acclaim and was described as "the heavenly sound of young Yorkshire." Don't miss out on seeing them perform at Chalk later this year.
The Reytons
When: Friday 9th December
The Reytons have quickly risen from hometown heroes in South Yorkshire to a nationally renowned indie-rock outfit. A word of mouth sensation, they continue to hit the country with epic shows and performances and are set to visit Chalk in Brighton towards the end of this year. With their February 2021 EP charting in the Top 40 and their November 2021 debut album dropping at #11 in the charts, we can't wait to see what their Brighton shows brings. Grab your tickets now!
Will And The People
When: Friday 16th December
Light-hearted British quartet, Will And The People, formed in 2010 after meeting at Glastonbury that year. The Brighton band went on to release their self-titled debut album in May 2012 to great praise. With inspiration coming from the likes Bob Marley, The Beatles, The Doors, Supertramp, The Police and more, they're set to bring their sound back to their hometown gig in Chalk in mid-December.
