5 Minutes With Against The Current

New York formed rockers Against The Current return to the UK later this year with the 'Nightmares & Daydreams Tour'.

The run of dates is part of a world tour - and we caught up with them to discuss how the shows have been so far, what they're looking forward to in the UK and more.

Check out the full interview below.

Firstly – your new single ‘Silent Stranger’ has just dropped! What’s the reaction been like to it so far?

Dropping a song while on tour is really wonderful - we got to tease it for a few days by playing it live before it was even out. It’s always surreal after a release to play a show that night or in the subsequent days and hear people already screaming the words.

You are currently out on the road as part of the ‘Nightmares & Daydreams’ World Tour – what have been the highlights so far?

We were able to play two new cities and one new country so far which was really nice. It’s rare we get to go somewhere for the first time after so many years of touring so it’s always a treat to play somewhere new.

Do you have to adjust your performances according to where you are in the world, or is it just business as usual so to say?

We do some adjustments. Generally the tour has an overall feel to the set, but then we’ll cater bits and pieces. It’s funny how different countries/regions have very strong favourites and those favourites can be quite different. The top five songs is pretty much the same everywhere, but after that there’s a lot of dark horses.

Do you have any specific habits or rituals when you’re on the road for so long, or have you learned to just take every day as it comes?

On this run we barely have time to catch our breath so it’s really day by day. We’ve all found our ways to find moments of peace and make it through the gruelling flights or early lobby calls. I (Chrissy) use reading and soundtracks to carry me through.

You’re heading to the UK this winter – what can we expect from those shows?

Our UK shows will be bangers, we’re really excited. The UK in general always feels like a hometown show to us because we’ve been playing there since the earliest tours of the band so except high energy.

Is there anything in the UK that you’re particularly looking forward to doing or seeing?

Full English breakfasts and Wetherspoons, always!

What else do you have planned across 2023 and beyond?

2023 is fully booked out for us. As for beyond ... you’ll have to wait and see!
