Spotlight on: Palace

Palace first began to cement their name into the public consciousness upon the arrival of their debut EP, 'Lost in the Night' in 2014. The tracklisting contains what is, still to this day, some of the bands most successful and widely appreciated work - in particular their second single, 'Bitter', which was later rerecorded and featured on their debut album 'So Long Forever'. By 2016, just two years after their first release, they had amassed an impressive recorded catalogue and an adoring fan base, in London and across the UK.

Their sound set somewhat of a tonal precedent for the UK indie scene of the time - or at least largely contributed to it. Soaring reverb drenched guitar tones met Leo Wyndham's dulcet, rich vocal and picture-painting lyricism - both stitched together by a rhythm section that did precisely no more and no less than it needed to. These sonic fingerprints have underpinned Palace's sound since the band's conception, and even shine through, albeit evolved, in their latest album, 'Shoals' (2022).

Ever prolific, 2023 ushered the release of two companion EPs from Palace - 'Part I - When Everything Was Lost' & ' 'Part II - Nightmares & Ice Cream'. Marking a nuanced yet familiar evolution in the band's sound, the EPs saw Palace reunite with long time friend and producer Adam Jaffrey for the first time since their debut album 'So Long Forever' in 2016. The renewed collaboration resulted in him staying onboard for Palace's recently announced, deeply personal upcoming fourth studio album, 'Ultrasound', which will be released into the world this coming April.

The arrival of it's first single 'Bleach' last month is already an exciting testament to the forthcoming album's quality. With a UK & EU headline tour announced for Autumn 2024, including their biggest London show to date at Eventim Apollo, Palace are gearing up for one of the biggest years of their careers.

Tickets are available from Friday 1 March at 10am.
