Spotlight On: Antony Szmierek

Manchester poet, writer, and producer Antony Szmierek is gearing up for a 2025 tour, including a performance at Albert Hall on 21 March. The tour will follow the release of his album, Service Station At The End Of The Universe, which is set to drop on 28 February!

The last few years have been an exciting journey for Szmierek. He honed his craft in the Manchester spoken word scene, earning acclaim for his effortless flow that critiques contemporary British life while uncovering beauty in the mundane. His 2023 single, The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Fallacy, marked the start of his rapid rise.

Known for blending introspective poetry with smooth riffs and nostalgic beats, he debuted with Giving Up for Beginners (2021), drawing comparisons to Mike Skinner of The Streets, and released the EP Poems To Dance To in 2023. The latest EP, Seasoning(2023) has been a fan favourite, with Seasoning (feat. 2b.Frank) being one his most popular tracks to date.

Ahead of the tour and 2025 album drop, Szmierek has recently released the single The Great Pyramid of Stockport. His latest single was inspired out of his obsession with the former Co-op building that has loomed over the M60 since the early 1990s. Reflecting on childhood dreams of sliding down it with his brother, Szmierek now explores what the pyramid reveals about the broader human experience.

If this latest track is anything to go off, fans should be beyond excited for what's to come from Antony Szmierek.

Hey, I'm Izzy, I'm a lover of all things music and fashion! I'm happiest at a festival or by the sea. You can probably find me with a whisky in my hand or taking pictures of King Arthur (my bunny).
