In line with its eco-ethos, Grand Designs Live, along with their official charity partner, Friends of the Earth will launch their Green Finger Campaign for the first time in Birmingham, helping to make more space for nature at this year’s event.
From food products and clothing materials, to medicines and mental health benefits, nature is essential to our daily life. The latest UK State of Nature report shows that over half our wildlife including plants, insects and birds, are now in significant decline.
If you’re about embark on an eco-friendly project, such as a home renovation, redecoration project or are simply looking for ideas, the event is packed with green products, free eco activities and talks to ensure that you are doing your part to protect and enhance the nature in your outdoor space.
Wildlife Forest
Join the official charity partner, Friends of the Earth, as you delve into the forest to discover more information on the state of nature in your area. Place your finger on the interactive map of the UK to show where you will be supporting this year’s campaign. Take home a free pack of Cornflower seeds to sow in your garden, whether you have a 7-acre plot or a 5sm balcony to work with.
Do you know the truth about wildlife? Put your knowledge to the test
An interactive quiz will be provided by Friends of the Earth to see if visitors can tell what fact from fiction is. Most of us still underestimate the number of species under threat, including UK wildlife.

Turning the tide on plastic
Grand Designs Live continues to reduce the amount of single-use plastic used at the event. This includes prohibiting the sale of plastic bottles from all in-show catering points, as well as the distribution of all plastic straws and cutlery. They have also replaced the show goody bags with biodegradable alternatives. They're also encouraging visitors to use bottles, which can be refilled using stations at catering outlets around the event.
