Going straight in at number four in the UK Charts, then followed by a Mercury Prize nomination and two Brit Awards, it was evident from then that he would be one to watch.
Today, we celebrate the fruits of his latest album 'Collections From The Whiteout'. His most ambitious and collaborative record to date, Howard's fourth album follows his signature style of soul-searching - as seen since the 'Every Kingdom' days, but with a sense of adventure and experimental side; as uncompromising as it is engrossing.
Adding a "fresh perspective to moments in history" (UDiscoverMusic), this record sees Ben following the lives of various characters and stories he's been captivated by on the news, but by adding his own flair to give the stories a new lease of life and creative twist. It's this fine attention to detail in his lyrics that have captivated his fans for many years.
Unsurprisingly, the album soared straight to number one in the UK Charts, his second chart-topping record to date, and further solidified his already distinguished career. Not only that, 'Collections From The Whiteout' is already a critical success with four stars across the board from the likes of DIY, The Independent and Mojo.
