Albums We're Excited For In 2023

We're only a month in to 2023 and we've already had a glimpse of new music from giant bands and artists like Paramore, Caroline Polachek, Fall Out Boy and Miley Cyrus with many more albums to be dropped throughout the year.

So, we've channelled our excitement into a list of our most anticipated albums expected in 2023 - do you have an album you can't wait to get your hands on? Let us know on our socials!

Fall Out Boy

Album Title: So Much (For) Stardust
Release Date: 24 March
Why We’re Excited: From what we've heard so far from single 'Love From The Other Side' we're incredibly excited to hear flashbacks of 'Folie à Deux' from Fall Out Boy. Whilst it's easy to let the nostalgic undertones get the best of you, there are many more reasons why we're counting the days until we can listen to the album in full. One of which being Fall Out Boy's lyricism. 'Model house life meltdown still a modern dream let-down, it kills me, you know I'm dying out here, what would you trade the pain for? I'm not sure' could be taken from a poetry book and we're sure the penmanship will be a theme throughout the full album.

blink-182

Album Title: TBC
Release Date: TBC
Why We're Excited: Marking the first album featuring Mark, Tom and Travis since their 2012 EP 'Dogs Eating Dogs', the line-up that brought us certified classics like 'Enema of the State' and 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' are back and it seems, judging by the title of their first single 'EDGING' their sense of humour hasn't changed. The single delivers on the simplicity we know from blink that makes their hooks all the easier to get stuck in your head, but for us, seeing the three of them picking up where they left off and reunite as friends is what makes us so excited to hear the latest release. That, and the fact that the album is, in Tom's words 'the best album we've ever made'.

Paramore

Album Title: This Is Why
Release Date: 10 February
Why We're Excited: Paramore are back with their sixth album, and the excitement is real. If the two singles released so far are any indication, then their new album 'This Is Why' is a reaction to being pent-up during the pandemic. The title track is a story of isolation and uncertainty set to the tune of groovy indie rock, while 'The News' is about the failure to shake that feeling of vulnerability as you doom-scroll. “You’d think after a global pandemic of f**king biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something,” explains Hayley Williams in a statement.

Lana Del Rey

Album Title: Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd
Release Date: 10 March
Why We're Excited: Our favourite sad girl is back with her ninth studio album following two releases in 2021: 'Blue Banisters' and 'Chemtrails Over The Country Club'. The 16-track list includes collaborations with Father John Misty, Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers, Tommy Genesis, and Jon Batiste, and includes production from Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, and Zach Dawes. So far, the singer-songwriter has shared the album’s title track, which references the Harry Nilsson song 'Don’t Forget Me', and the Eagles’ 'Hotel California', as well as blessing us with the full tracklist.

The National

Album Title: First Two Pages of Frankenstein
Release Date: 28 April
Why We're Excited: The first taste of The National’s ninth record landed in the shape of ‘Tropic Morning News’ earlier this year and whet the appetite of fans around the globe. After teasing new material last summer which was the perfect balance between a natural progression from 2019’s ‘I Am Easy To Find’ and a defined new chapter for the band, ‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’ is already confirmed to feature collabs from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens – so there is no doubt that this record will be a strong contender for album of the year!

Boygenius

Album Title: The Record
Release Date: 31 March
Why We're Excited: Boygenius’ – aka Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker – debut, eponymous EP continues to be filed under ‘heavy rotation’ in my record collection, so the news of a full length album comes as a real treat. Already teasing three tracks (‘True Blue’, ‘$20’ and ‘Emily I’m Sorry’), it is evident once again that the supergroup are back with a bang and not content with their formation being a one-time thing. Alongside the news of a full-length LP, the trio have announced a live appearance at Coachella Festival, so fingers crossed the live shows land in the UK soon.

FLO

Album Title: TBC
Release Date: TBC
Why We're Excited: Comprised of talented singers Stella, Jorja, and Renee is British girl R&B trio and Brit Award Rising Star winners FLO. Their initial rise to fame started when their song 'Cardboard Box' went viral on TikTok and have since released incredible tracks like 'Immature', 'Not My Job', 'Feature Me' and more! In 2022, they released their debut EP 'The Lead' and now have plans to release a full debut album in the near future. 2023 is set to be a huge year for FLO, as they are already confirmed to perform at numerous festivals including Wireless in London, Sol Blume in California, and Summer Sonic in Japan!

Beyoncé

Album Title: TBC
Release Date: TBC
Why We're Excited: Queen B made her comeback last year with the release of her seventh studio album ‘Act I: Renaissance.’ With it came the announcement that the album was in fact the first of a trilogy leaving fans guessing that maybe she’ll be dropping a second part to the album in 2023. If ‘Act I: Renaissance’ is anything to go by with its viral hits and dance bops then an “Act II” album will be just as good, if not even better surely?!

Billie Marten

Album Title: Drop Cherries
Release Date: 7 April
Why We're Excited: With three critically acclaimed albums behind her already, 23-year-old Billie Marten is due to release her fourth record ‘Drop Cherries’ in spring. Her previous record ‘Flora Fauna’ released in 2021 was a beautiful record which featured tracks ‘Creature Of Mine’ and ‘Human Replacement’, both of which were named BBC Radio 1’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’. This new album will be the first time that she will have co-produced one of her records, and if the first single ‘This Is How We Move’ is anything to go by, we think it’s going to be special.

Frank Ocean

Album Title: TBC
Release Date: TBC
Why We’re Excited: With seven years having passed since Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’, we’ve been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for the next record. But we think this could be the year. Having now been confirmed as a Coachella 2023 headliner, and rumours swirling around him spending time in the studio, clearing his Instagram, and him sporadically dropping new music for his radio show, there’s reason to think, or hope,  it could be coming. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
