Check out the full interview below.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

I’m a singer/songwriter from the east coast of Australia. I spend most of my year touring around the world, but when I’m home, I love surfing, hanging with my mates and coffees!

You've recently released the single 'Called To Say Hey', what's the influence behind your latest work?

As I spend more and more time away from friends and family, I find myself checking in a lot more than I used to. Sometimes, I’m just ‘calling to say hey’! Haha

Are there any bands/artists who have recently inspired you?

To be honest, recently for me, I’ve been listening to loads of Post Malone's stuff. I loved his country album, but it made me go back and listen to his earlier albums which are super sick!

You've got the UK tour coming up in October, any cities you're really excited to play, any recurring favourites?

I think as an Aussie, the London show is always pretty special. I’ve got a few mates that live in London now so it’s cool to be able to see them, plus playing in London is kind of just iconic I think haha.

How would you say your live performances have evolved?

Mainly just from lots and lots of playing. Like I said we spend most of the year touring, and that allows us to really lock in on stage. I’m a big believer in repetition, and practice, which I feel is what continues to elevate my sound/shows. Each time I change up the setlist, it always takes a few weeks to get comfy with it, but once I’m past that, It’s smooth sailing.

How did you get into music?

Like everyone, I think we all hear it from an early stage in life, but my first moment that made me say “holy shit”, was watching ‘U2 Live from Slane Castle’ on DVD as a kid. I may have been around 11 or 12, but it blew my mind!

Can we expect anything new from your upcoming shows?

New songs, new stories! I’ve released a good chunk o music since I last toured the UK so it’ll be fun to play a heap of new stuff at these shows.

Do you have a favourite track to perform live?

Recently I’ve really enjoyed playing my new song ‘Hand-Me-Down Heart’. It’s just super fun to play and has a nice ‘swing’ to it.

Are there any venues you've got on your bucket list to play?

In London, I’ve always gotten excited about the Roundhouse. Such an iconic room. That’d be pretty cool I guess haha

What would you say is your favourite thing about touring?

I’m a big fan of travelling, so touring for me has the perks of playing music, and getting to see heaps of epic places. But finding any body of water on a tour is the most fun. Especially touring through summer!

What can we expect to see from Jack Botts in the future?

More music, more touring, maybe some more friends on stage at some point! But I’m really enjoying the chapter we’re in right now!

Hey, I'm Izzy, I'm a lover of all things music and fashion! I'm happiest at a festival or by the sea. You can probably find me with a whisky in my hand or taking pictures of King Arthur (my bunny).
