5 Minutes With Jazzy

With some impressive accolades, Jazzy has set history as the first female Irish artist to ever hit number one on the Spotify Ireland Chart. She was also the first female Irish artist to achieve number one on the Irish Official Charts in 14 years. Having gone from strength to strength in 2024, we spoke to her about how it feels to have big such records, her music influences and about her upcoming live date at Electric Brixton next month.

Check out the interview below!

How does it feel to be the first female Irish artist in 14 years to hit number 1 in the Irish Official Charts?

Ahh, it’s mad to be honest. It was the anniversary of that day recently and it still doesn’t feel real to me.. Also to think it’s been 14 years – crazy! The support from everyone at home always blows me away.

What influences the music you create? Are there any artists that influence your music?

The club most of all I’d say, but my music’s all about vibes, like, whatever’s going on in my head or what I’m feeling at the time. Growing up in Dublin definitely gave me that mix – bit of pop, bit of dance, bit of soul. I definitely look up to some of the amazing DJs I get to make music with or meet at shows like MK and Sonny Fodera. Peggy Gou is definitely a big one for me I feel like we would vibe really well together- Also, couldn't really answer this question without mentioning my brothers Belters Only, the pair of them have curated the Irish house scene that is now flying with amazing talent - They have given me and a lot of other artists a platform to showcase what we can do on this little island! Big up🙏

You’re playing Electric Brixton in November, what can fans expect from the night?

It’s gonna be a special one for me as it’s my first Electric Brixton and the line up is absolutely stacked! Can always expect good vibes making a debut so it’s deffo not to be missed!

Are there any songs you’re really looking forward to playing live?

Definitely! There’s a few that just hit different live. I guess pretty predictably, Giving Me always goes off. But I’m buzzin' to play some of the newer stuff off my upcoming project too – see how it lands with everyone. Festival crowds got a sneaky peak at the one I have coming next all summer and it went down so well. And people have been loving Somedays - I’ve been playing alot of shows with Sonny recently and his crowd love it so I can’t wait to play it at my own shows. The reaction to That song at Amnesia in Ibiza, and Warehouse Project in Manchester these last few weeks is something I won't forget!

If someone has never listened to you before, is there one song you’d recommend they listen to?

I can’t say Giving Me here because without sounding cocky I feel like there isn’t a person in the world who wouldn’t recognise it at this point haha! It’s mad to say but I’m told it was literally the 5th most played out song in the UK last year. I have one coming in the next couple of weeks called No Bad Vibes that I feel is pretty on the nose for a summary of me and my mindset. If not I would say somedays is a good one also - I love to have a nice message on a song.

Finally, what can we expect from you in 2025? More new music?

Ah sure, ya know me, there’s always something cooking😉 I am manifesting 2025 is gonna be a big one– plenty more tunes, maybe a collab or two, and I’m hopin' to do more live gigs. But I’m also very much not done with 2024 yet either!
