Emily: I am lucky enough to play two iconic roles in the show, Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit. They are both such joys to play and it has been a great experience bringing them to life for all the families that come to watch the show! I’d say Miss Rabbit is a lot more challenging as she is such a proactive character and has a big personality so it requires sustaining a lot of energy for the time she is present on stage. She also has a lot of interactions with the audience so it’s all about building a connection with them and making them comfortable enough to get involved with the show.
Emily: It definitely took a lot of practice and a lot of time spent watching the show. It was all about trying to nail the voices and bring their personalities from the TV show to life! Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit are definitely two big shoes to fill so there was a lot of pressure of living up to expectations. A lot of this stuff came together in rehearsals when working with the creative team and putting the show on its feet; having that time working together as a company was vital to getting comfortable with each other and our roles.
Emily: It’s just a completely different atmosphere performing to a younger audience. There’s a lot more magic and excitement involved and even though I’m playing two of the older characters in the show it’s definitely kept me feeling young this past year! For most children, this will be their first theatre experience so it’s just really special to be trusted with bringing that to life for them and making sure they have the best time. It’s also really sweet to see all the families getting involved and having fun together throughout the show. There’s just a different appreciation and it’s been such a highlight to add to my career!
Emily: There’s so many favourite moments to pick from in the show but I definitely think the end which involves the song Sandy Puddles and leads into our Megamix is a hit with the audience. I just feel like it ties the show up really well and always gets the best reaction. Sandy Puddles has also been Muddly Puddles in previous shows and is one that the audience recognises and can sing along with. It’s just a really fun ending and leaves the show on a high energy.
And finally, describe Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out in 3 words.
